the following Report Pursuant to our appointment we set outon a visit to the Indians the 7th of the 5 Mo lastand after passing through two of their towns arrivedon the 3rd of the most month at upper Sanduskythe principal village of the Wyandotts where wemet with a friendly reception from Tarhic thehead Chief and others of that Nation Upon confering with them we found a mis-take had been made in the translation of thespeech which they sent to friends, respecting thetime of opening their great Council which theynow informed us began annually at the fullmoon in this month and finding it would bedifficult to procure subsistance for ourselves &; horseshere until that time We concluded it wouldunder our present circumstances, be best topropose to Tarhic a conference with him &;the other Chiefs who were then at San Duskywhich was accordingly agreed to, and at the timeappointed we met him and two other chiefs athis own house, when we had a full opportunitywith them on the subject of our visit Our communication appeard to be rec.with great satisfaction by them and in theiranswer deliverd to us on some strings of Wampum
