addressed the following letter to Wm Kirk Baltimore 2 mo10 1807Respected friend Wm Kirk The committee on Indianconcerns had a Meeting last evening which wasgenerally attended and have concluded that as theeis now in the employ of Government, thy brotherMahlon may be serviceable to thee in thy newsituation in that Country, they have thereforeconcluded to leave thee at liberty to take himin thy employ on thy arrival there The committee some time since requestedthose of their members residing over the mountains to procure a suitable man &; his wife toreside at Dennis’ Station since when they havereceived no reply, but they have now concludedthat it would be premature to send a womanat this time, and have requested them to procurea man only, if they should not succeed, nor we beable to succeed here, we shall then endeavour toget Wm Wells to procure some person or persons tomanage the business in the same manner it wasdone before thee went into that country but ifthey should succeed in obtaining a person to resideat Dennis Station we hope thee will render anyservice or advice that may be convenient
