quantities by going for it into the State of Ohio, the Indiana &; Michigan Territories: This hasmuch arrested the progress of their improvementand it is with deep concern we add thatthey seem fast relapsing into their former habits &;your memorialists are of the opinion thatno exertion on their part will be likely toproduce much permanent advantages to theIndians unless they can be restricted fromSpiritous Liquor; many of them are sensible ofits desolating effects and with us deplore itsravages upon them, but are unable to preventits introduction into their country; they haveaccordingly addressed a Memorial to thePresident of the United States (a copy of which theylikewise transmited to us) intreating thatmeasures may be taken to prevent the saleof this destructive article to any Indian within theState of Ohio, or the Territories of Indiana orMichigan.
