satisfactorily informed, that tho these communicatinghad not reached the Chiefs, before the commencementof their general council, they had themselves takenthe subject into consideration, and addressed apetition to the President of the United Statesdesiring that the people of the State of Ohio&; Territories of the United States, might berestricted from selling spiritous liquors to theIndians. This would have operated as anencouragement to us, to persevere in the business which we had undertaken, had we notbeen informed by a communication fromFort Wayne, being the proceedings of the generalcouncil, that some of the Indians were disposedto dispence with our further services- As thisis the situation of the business at present whenwe head of the arrival of our red brethren inBaltimore this day it was pleasing to us for wewished an opportunity of this sort with them, thatwe might sit down together and endeavour to fal together. AndI hope as we are now here met in council, wemay speak freely, and that if our red brethrenshould have met with any thing, which has notbeen to then satisfaction, in our intercourse withthem, they would freely open to us their minds Brothers!
