The Committee appointed to prepare a report tothe Yearly Meeting produced the following whichwas approved and the Clerk directed to sign iton behalf of the Committee, to wit To the Yearly Meeting now siting We the committee on Indian concernsReport that since the last yearly meeting we have receivedinformation, that the Mill which was erected at Waupakannetta for the use of the Indians had been so farcompleated as to commence grinding, and gave generalsatisfaction to them as it was expected to be of muchassistance In order to promote the views of Friends for thebenefit of those Indians at Waupaukannetta who hadsolicited our assistance the committee wrote to suchof their members as reside west of the Allegahneymountains in the 4th month last, that is had beenconcluded to endeavour to procure a suitable manand his wife to reside at the settlement for thepurpose of taking charge of the Mill and affordingthe needful instruction in their agricultural anddomestic concerns, and requested them to procuresuch, the committee have however understood, thatowing to the unhappy occurences which about thistime took place in that Country, no persons could beengaged; and soon afterward the communicationsbetween the white settlements and the Indians becomingalmost intirely cut off, our operations necessarilyhave been altogether suspended and the committeehave lately been informed that nearly the whole of the
