Bio notes | The South Carolinian area of Bush River was settled by Quakers in the 1760s, served as a Monthly Meeting from 1770-1822, and even functioned as host of a Quarterly Meeting of Friends for all South Carolina and Georgia Quakers from 1791 to 1808. Opposed to slavery, its members eventually moved west to Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. |
