Bio notes | An American General in Revolutionary War, delegate to the Continental Congress, Governor of New Hampshire, and a federal judge. Headed the scorched earth Sullivan Expedition in 1779, which destroyed pro-British Iroquois towns in estern NY and nearly splintered the Confederacy. After 1781, he largely remained in New Hampshire. |
