Bio notes Quakers began meeting in the Short Hills area of the Niagara Peninsula in the early 1790s. In 1799 the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting formally established the Pelham Monthly Meeting and, under it, the Short Hills preparative meeting, about 12 miles off from Pelham Township. Most Quakers here hailed from Bucks County or Lancaster County in Pennsylvania, and migrated as closely linked families.
