Bio notes Philadelphia merchant, agent, and Quaker elder. Born in England, he moved to Philadelphia in the 1790s. He married Anna Head at Philadelphia Monthly Meeting in 1796. Member of PYM Indian Committee, accompanied Isaac Coates to visit Indians in 1799 and 1803. From 1799 to 1801 he was part of a deputation appointed to visit Friends on the frontiers of New York and Canada. By 1808 he worked on the Meeting for Sufferings, in 1809 he traveled with Wiliam Allinson to Catawissa, and by 1816 (or perhaps earlier) worked on the Committee of Indian Affairs.
